Alpheus Cleaning Technologies was founded in 1987 to satisfy the growing demand for high performance, environmentally safe alternatives to traditional industrial cleaning methods. We were purchased in June, 1998 by CAE, Inc.
Our roots can be traced to the 1970's when engineers at Lockheed sought ways to rejuvenate aircraft primer without surface damage, without grit entrapment, and without using hazardous solvents. The novel concept of using solid CO2 dry ice was born and over the years an estimated million in research resulted in the CO2 CleanBlast, the world's first viable dry ice blast cleaning system.
Believing there to be a great industrial need for this technology, a team including the project manager and key engineers licensed the original technology from Lockheed and formed Alpheus Cleaning Technologies in April, 1987. Two months later the world's first commercial installation of this new process was completed at Tinker Air Force Base.
As new applications for this dynamic technology were explored, it soon became apparent that the need to clean equipment in place was important in many industries, but often not possible.
Initially, dry ice blasting was unable to meet this need because portable equipment did not yet exist. Believing in-place cleaning was a key to the future of the dry ice blasting industry, Alpheus committed itself to making it happen by adding engineers and research dollars. The result was the Portable Cleaning Station introduced in 1989. The PCS revolutionized the market because it could be moved about the shop floor, making online cleaning possible for the first time. Having grown accustomed to seeing CO2 blasting systems mounted on 40 foot trailers, the refrigerator sized PCS was welcomed enthusiastically by a wide array of industries.
Since the introduction of the PCS, continual refinements in the technology have enabled Alpheus to develop a full line of portable blasting units and related equipment. The array of dry ice blasting products we offer today is unrivaled and has solidified our position as the industry leader. Choose from single-hose or dual-hose systems, portable or fixed-space units, pellet makers, block makers, sound-attenuated blasting cabinets, blast air heaters, and a wide range of blasting guns and barrels.
