Description
This is a rare and highly collectible antique light but sturdy metal inkwell commemorating the French Army in WW1, probably manufactured in the 1920s or 1930s. Does not come with the glass ink bowl but no matter. Is a convenient size and displays wonderfully on a desk or shelf. What makes this one so rare is that it is clearly marked souvenir of "Verdun" which indicates it was produced for sale in Verdun, France, the site of the most famous French-German battle in WW1 at the most fortified point on the western front. It also is marked with the name of the artist that sculpted the mold for the inkwell. The tip of the machine gun is bent, not broken, and the piece does not appear to have any flaws and is sold "as is" which is the same condition in which I purchased it. Hand-picked at an antique market in Paris years ago. You will not easily find this one. See pictures for condition and measurements and please ask any questions before buying. I am a collector not a dealer and will do my best to respond.
