Being a WWI collector, primarily medical theme; I lived in France for several years and  found many interesting WWI era pieces.
Up for auction is an original 1915 lithograph that was hand colored by the  artist ( Jeoffrey). It is dated and it also numbered in pencil  as number "194/975".
This was done during the first year of the war, most likely to raise money for the war effort and at a time where humor still existed..... before the horrendous war that dragged on through the end of 1918.
This is the real thing and NOT a repro. The general humorous theme is making fun of those soldiers who served in offices way behind the front lines.
For those who do not speak French I will paraphrase.. since it is a French "play on words" ( or as the French would say "un jeu des mots").
The top line states " Il y a "feu" et "feu".    The comment here is playing on fire as in gun fire versus fire as in what is used to heat a room to keep warm.
At the bottom of the litho, the unwounded soldier in his spiffy uniform  and an arm band indicating he is  Service materiaux" ( cushy behind the lines  supplies job!) is asking " Ca chauffait ou tu as pris ca?"... which roughly translates as " Was it hot where you were wounded"... referring to hot meaning an active dangerous war zone.
The wounded solider sarcastically states "Oui, mais pas comme dans ton bureau"..... which wonderfully translates as " YES, BUT NOT LIKE IN YOUR OFFICE"!
The litho measures approx. 10 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 inches. I have framed it in a nice gold metal frame with plexi cover instead of glass so less apt to break during shipping and weighs less so will cost less to ship. The frame is 16 x 20 inches.
This is a great piece of WWI military history with a sentiment that exxisted and exists in any war [past, present, and future.
I am no longer a spring chicken so I have decided to let a few other go to another avid collector out there. Anyway, I have no more room to hang things on my office wall.

Please look at all photos and contact me if you have any questions... preferably before you bid. As a general rule I do not accept returns... but consider it only if item is grossly misrepresented... however I do expect any bidder to do his or her own due diligence research. I am not an expert in anything... however I am a very honest eBay seller as well as buyer and expect the same from everyone.  I need to say this because of  a couple experiences from buyers whose sole reason to return something was because either they, their mother-in-law or family pet decided
they did not want the item after all!
    Please READ-   Shipping
    Please await invoice before paying!
I ship at USPS cost so please no whining.
( Some idiot buyer left feedback that my shipping cost was high even though I charged only the USPS rate… better to complain to the postal service … not my fault).
My intial guestimate of shipping may be too high ...but remember i will shoip at USPS rates with no handling charge or add ons... so perhaps will be less depending where you live.
I do not make money on shipping
and often my listed shipping cost is nothing more than a guestimate until I pack, weigh, measure, and have the buyer’s zip code.  I always tell the buyer to
    wait for invoice
before paying so I can give exact shipping cost. However, I keep getting burned by people paying before invoice which sometimes ends up in me losing money on shipping.
If you pay BEFORE I send exact invoice, I reserve the right to cancel your win. What I have quoted in description is only a "guestimate" until I pack, weigh, and have your zip code. It could be less perhaps?
The piece will not  too heavy ( especially since framed with plexi and not glass)  but as soon as the package gets more than a foot long, and weighs more than a pound... and you live on the East Coast... well it seems to get a little more expensive to ship
